From April 14 to 16, 2018, the 1977 alumni of the college of Light Industry, Textile and Food Engineering returned to their alma mater and held a series of activities such as the 40th anniversary celebration and the teacher-student association in the leather building. Alumni of the 77th grade, professor Weihua Dan hosted the celebration.
Before the celebration, the alumni of Class 77441 presented a basket of flowers to the statue of Professor Xi Xu, the former senior director of the Department of High-quality Science and Technology of Chengdu University of Science and Technology, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the bronze statue of Professor Quan Zhang, the first-class professor, the founder of the tanning profession, to commemorate the outstanding contributions made by the older generation of scientists to the development of disciplines and industries.
On the morning of April 15, Mr. Jianguo Rong, director of the Foreign Liaison Office of the Alumni Association of Sichuan University, Professor Yang Zhang, a famous leather chemist, Professor Longli Liao, the old president of the college, Professor Youjie He, president of the college, and 24 students of 77441 class at home and abroad participated in the celebration and fraternity.
In his speech, Director Jianguo Rong warmly welcomed the return of class 77441 to alma mater, and highly praised the achievements of 77 grade alumni in all walks of life in the past 36 years. Dr. Ya Cai delivered a speech on behalf of all the students in class 77441. He was grateful to Xiaoping and his teacher. His speech was genuine and sincere, which aroused strong resonance among the teachers and students present and brought the teachers and students to that glorious era. The growth history of Dr. Ya Cai is the epitome of the growth history of 77 alumni. Grade 77 did not live up to the great era, did not live up to the expectations of the alma mater. Professor Youjie He, president of the college of Light Industry, Textile and Food Engineering, on behalf of the college, warmly welcomed the first alumni of leather industry to return to their alma mater after the reform and opening up. Then, he introduced the progress of education and scientific research in recent years in the college and the department of leather, and reviewed the work development of alumni. Meanwhile, He thanked the alumni for their strong support for the alma mater education. Professor Yang Zhang fondly recalled the good time he spent with class 77441, and highly affirmed the diligence, eagerness to learn and the courage to climb style of study of grade 77. Professor Longli Liao, the old dean of the college and the 77-class professional class teacher, showed the students that he had been collecting the 37-year roster and peacetime grades register, which made the students very moved. Professor Liao praised the achievements made by the students of grade 77 in their professional studies and work after graduation. They will meet again in about 10 years.
In order to express the grace of the 77th tanning professional alumni to the alma mater, the gratitude of the school, department leaders and teachers, alumni representatives Zhihua Dan, Changju Yang, Fukang Yan, Guangshu Liao, Yongjian Zhan, Zhongping Fan presented souvenirs to the faculty and alumni association. The school alumni generals presented the Sichuan University Celebration Medal to the 77,541 class students, and Sichuan University Press the alumni presented the monograph of "The History of Sichuan University".
After the celebration, all the alumni returning to the school took a group photo with the alma mater, and then all the alumni came to take a group photo in front of the monument established by the alma mater in 2007. The students unanimously stated that in the rest of their lives, they should continue to carry forward the spirit of “taking care of the heart and the mind” and arranging a retirement life with a positive attitude towards life, and contributing to society as far as possible.
