In order to adapt to the new situation of internationalization of higher education in the 21st century and cultivate professionals with an international perspective, Professor Yingjiao Xu, Director of Postgraduate Course and Vice-Director of Textile and Clothing Department of North Carolina State University, was invited to visit our clothing and apparel design major during the "Practice and International Course Week" of Sichuan University. From July 9 to 12, 2018, our college set up a full English course "Consumer Behavior for Fashion Products" with professional characteristics for undergraduates majoring in fashion and apparel design.
Professor Yingjiao Xu's course mainly focused on the consumption decision-making of clothing products, including the impact of environment, individuals, psychology and marketing on consumer behavior in the process of clothing and clothing consumption. She also summarized the current development and research status of garment consumer decision-making process, and encouraged students to find opportunities to carry out projects to understand China's garment consumer market and people's garment consumption behavior. Professor Yingjiao Xu paid attention to inspiring students to learn, encouraging them to think positively and express bravely in class. Her rigorous scientific thinking and thinking-oriented teaching methods left a deep impression on the students.
Through this "Practice and International Course Week" activity, students majoring in fashion and apparel design in our college have got a better understanding of consumer behavior of fashion products. Their English learning ability has been improved as well. The opening of international courses promotes the intersection of disciplines and focuses on the frontiers of disciplines in the world. It also provided a good platform for students to learn about overseas professional courses and further study abroad.
