In order to train professionals with international vision, the department of food engineering of our college was in Sichuan University during the University Immersion Program(UIP). In particular, Professor Jitske Andrea Land from the Netherlands Marriott Laurenstein University of Applied Science, an undergraduate "2+2" joint training cooperative school with the food engineering department of our college, is invited to teach in our college. From July 9 to 19, 2018, an English course called Prudent use of antibiotics in Dairy (The abuse of antibiotics in the production and processing of dairy products) was set up for undergraduate students of food science and engineering. Professor Jitske Andrea Land has been working on antibiotic prevention and control in dairy products at the University of Wageningen, Royal Fischland Dairy Company engaged in scientific research teaching.
Professor Jitske Andrea Land focuses on the recent scientific research literature, mainly aiming on the current situation of antibiotic abuse in dairy products, animal products, and how to propose corresponding solutions. Her actively interact with students in class, using cases, questions, group discussions, class posters, and other ways to guide students into learning. Her rigorous teaching attitude and student-centered teaching method left a deep impression on the students.
The course is simple, rigorous, interesting and closely connected to life. Students are highly motivated to take part in the class, and has gained a lot of knowledge from antibiotic abuse in the food industry with properly proposed solutions. The course culminated in a complete success.
